On November 05 and 06, 2020, Securities and Exchange Commission of Cambodia (“SECC”) in collaboration with Cambodian Derivatives Exchange (“CDX”) held a two-day online training program under the topic of “Online Training for Approved Persons for Derivatives Business”. This is the first successful derivatives online training program that has ever been hosted in Cambodia by SECC in which there were 61 participants, of which 34 are Cambodian and the other 27 foreigners.

H.E. Mr. Sou Socheat, Director General of SECC, provided an opening speech for this online training course and showed the great honour of having the first official derivatives online training in Cambodia to have more approved persons for the derivatives industry.

Business Manager s of Golden FX Link Capital—Mr. Long Samnang, Mr. Nhim Kosol, and Mr. Chhea Chhayheng—as well as the company’s Chief Financial Advisor Mr. George Michael Black were invited to provide training along with trainers from Legal Affairs Department and Securities Intermediaries Supervision Department of SECC. 

After joining the course, participants gained a broader understanding of derivatives market, especially of how to legally run a derivatives business in the kingdom and how to make use of the market to cultivate a good return from investment. Furthermore, participants with more than 60% of the total attendance in the two-day training were eligible to sit in the exam and pursue a certificate to be entitled as the approved person.

Derivatives market has developed rapidly in the kingdom over the last 5 years. This is attributed to an all-out effort by SECC and the leading derivative brokers in Cambodia such as Golden FX Link Capital in the provision of educational derivatives training to the public. It is expected that the Cambodian derivatives market will continue to grow and drive the country’s economy.
